Air Conditioning Repair
If you’re experiencing any of the following signs, you should contact the HVAC experts at Herchenbach Mechanical Inc. right away for an air conditioning repair.
- You feel warm instead of cool air. If the air coming out of your vents isn’t as cool as it once was, you’ll need an air conditioning service.
- You see ice where it shouldn’t be. One of the reasons could be leaking refrigerant, which can cause larger issues and water damage. Call Herchenbach Mechanical Inc. immediately!
- You hear unusual sounds. Sounds like grating, squealing or grinding that you don’t usually hear are never a good sign. If you don’t remedy the problem today, this could lead to a costly breakdown in the future.
- You smell strange odors. If there is a chemical, mold, or burn smell coming from your air conditioner, then there could be a burn out or mold inside your HVAC unit. Neither should be ignored.
When you contact Herchenbach Mechanical Inc. concerning your air conditioning repair, we’ll send a certified and an experienced HVAC technician to diagnose the problem. He or she will:
- Inspect all of your air conditioner’s components for wear or damage.
- Conduct a detailed system performance test.
- Test the system’s charge and control settings.
- Use an approved leak detector to test for any leaks in your air conditioner.

A Critical Refrigerant changeover is happening now – Get Your System Ready Before 2025!
At Herchenbach Mechanical Inc. we want to keep our customers informed and aware of a new refrigerant change starting in 2025 and how it will affect your bottom dollar. This refrigerant change from R-410a to R-454b is causing the cost of the average air conditioning system to increase anywhere from $750 to $1500+. The Herchenbach Mechanical Inc. team is trying to keep some dollars in your pocket. We are recommending that if your system is old or in need of repair, to replace now and pay less now than the future costs of the new R-454b air conditioning equipment. Below you will find a deeper explanation of this refrigerant change and why it is happening for the better of our planet.
In 2024 the United States will be rolling out new regulations for HVAC systems to address environmental concerns and improve energy efficiency across our globe. These restrictions aim to enhance air quality, reduce energy consumption and mitigate the environmental impact of HVAC operations. The current refrigerant, R-410a, works well but has a high global warming potential (GWP), which means it contributes to climate change. Because of this, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has decided to phase out R-410a equipment by 2025 and replace it with R-454b.
The new R-454b refrigerant is “mildly flammable” and will require a new additional sensor in the indoor coil section to sense a refrigerant leak. If triggered, this sensor will then alarm the HVAC system and turn all equipment off and run the system fan to dissipate the new R-454b refrigerant. These additional safety’s are contributing to the additional costs the end user is now going to have to incur.
The EPA has implemented a 2025 sell through date of the existing expiring R-410a equipment. This is causing the existing supply of R-410a equipment to be depleting fast as all manufacturers are currently moving their manufacturing lines over to the new R-454b refrigerant equipment and all HVAC companies are trying to secure equipment to bring their bottom dollar costs down while R-410a equipment is available.
